Locked Rooms

Fish was based on my friend John Carnell, a friend of artist Andy Lanning, who worked for me on THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS. John submitted some great scripts for TRG and later developed THE SLEEZE BROTHERS for me with Andy. It was John that introduced me to the buddhism that we both still practise.

When I created HEDGE BACKWARDS I was living in El Segundo, struggling to make a new life for myself having chased my girlfriend out to LA and then finding myself single again. It struck me that El Segundo sounded like See, Go and Do -- a Second chance... so naturally I worked that into the strip.

Having given up a very established career in London, at MARVEL UK, I was completely disoriented in LA and would often find myself struck by feelings of vertigo -- walking along the street I would suddenly feel as if I was falling through the sky. Very odd. So that went in too.
